Register your News Page with Facebook

Have you registered your News Page with Facebook yet? Facebook is asking any Page that “primarily publishes journalism intended to inform people about current events or information” to register. As in, literally… that’s what they said. So you should probably do it if you haven’t already.

What is News Page Registration?

It’s an index of Pages that publish news to Facebook. It gives Facebook the chance to carefully review your status as a news and information source so that they can continue to better identify and control bad actors and fake news.

How to Get Started

Any admin with access to a Page in Business Manager should see the “News Pages” option under the “Registrations” tab in Business Settings. This is where you can begin the process of registering your news Pages.

Once Pages are submitted, each Page and its associated website will be reviewed against the registration guidelines.

Facebook is also asking you to share optional information about your Page, like logos and editorial policies. Facebook says they’re working closely with publishers and industry groups to find the best way to display this additional information. Facebook says the goal is to allow your readers/viewers to have a better understanding of the news they see on Facebook. This information is optional, but if you want a chance to take part in Facebook’s early efforts around this initiative, you’ll want to give as much of that info as you can.

News Feed Best Practices

If you want to stay in the index once you get there, make sure you’re closely following Facebook’s News Feed Publisher Guidelines. Need some help interpreting those? Drop us a line at support@socialnewsdesk.com.
